CLUB CAPTAINS

Neve McGregor Hiya, my name is Neve McGregor and I am 15 years old. I have been swimming with KASC for 4 years, which isn’t very long but I have loved every minute of it. Joining the club at an older age was quite daunting but KASC made me feel at home and welcome. When I started the club, I was swimming with younger swimmers because I knew I was new to swimming, but they taught me a lot, were supportive and friendly to me. I’d like to be as supportive to the younger ones now as they were to me when I first started. During my journey through KASC I have enjoyed socialising with the juniors, and I still do, as well as I do with the seniors. I have lots of amazing memories with the club, and I also feel that KASC is like a family because everyone is so supportive of each other and always push each other to do their best. I believe that I can help the club in many ways. I helped last year at the Mini League which I loved because it helped me reconnect with the younger ones and encourage them to not only do the best they can but to enjoy their swims. I am approachable for all swimmers if they have a problem or need to chat (even if its not swimming related or something silly). My goals as club captain is to try and be a voice for the swimmers by getting all our views across and listening to all the ideas everyone has. I also want to keep the swimmers motivated and encourage them to enjoy swimming as much as I do. I want to continue to make fun memories be the best we can and achieve our goals. Please feel free to come and speak to me anytime! |

Yvie Glencorse Hi! My name is Yvie Glencorse and I am 14 years old. I have been with KASC for seven years now. That's half of my life! As club captain, I would like to give back to the club and encourage others to be the best they can be, just like others have done for me. I am very grateful to be a part of this amazing club and I couldn't imagine my life without KASC. My favourite thing about swimming with KASC is how everyone is so inclusive and helps everyone fit in straight away. We are like one big family. I have an amazing group of friends at the club both younger and older than me from different towns and schools that I wouldn't have met without being a member. KASC is one of the smaller clubs at competitions. This actually makes it way more fun and enjoyable. I mean last week Sharon had a shower with us because she was going straight to a party! Being a smaller club at competitions also means that everyone there knows you. When you're swimming in a race everyone is cheering you on although you can't hear it, you see them standing or jumping up and down at the wall with their lips moving up and down and it makes you feel very supported. It really gives you that little bit more belief that you can do it. As club captain I am trying to help the club improve in many different ways and try and put the club up there with the very top clubs. I like everyone to have fun and enjoy the adventure like I did while growing up with the club. I try to make myself approachable to everyone, listen to new ideas and want to help everyone be their best. Another thing I try to do as club captain, is to help set goals for everyone as I feel that this has helped me a lot. I also do everything I can to keep the swimmers motivated and to be the best they can be. |
